Almac Trial Coordinator
2026Q3 External Release Communication
Report Builder Updates
This release introduces several usability improvements to the Query page, including the ability to customize column titles and reorder columns directly within the interface. Scrollbar visibility has also been enhanced to improve navigation and accessibility. Additionally, users can now define and apply filters before executing a query, enabling more targeted and efficient data retrieval.
Audit Trail Updates
The email addresses of Almac employees will be retained for event records; however, in the user interface, exports, and reports, they will only appear as "Almac Employee."
Questionnaire Save Updates
This release introduces two enhancements to questionnaire answer tracking:
- In-Progress Answer History
Questionnaire answers that are saved but not yet submitted are now retained as previous values within the form session. This creates an activity history of changes made prior to submission. These interim updates are separate from the formal audit trail and are not recorded as data changes.
- Multi-Session Data Retention
To support scenarios where a questionnaire is completed across multiple sessions or submitted after several save actions, all entered data and interim changes are preserved. In the event of data discrepancies, resolution follows the standard data change management process.
Site Selection Visibility
The Site Code now appears in the site selection for participants, as well as when assigning staff to a study to designate their respective sites.
Site Addresses
A site may now include multiple addresses associated with a specific study. All addresses will remain subject to validation of required fields and formatting.
Registration Code Login
This release introduces an alternative participant registration and login process using a Registration Code. Participants can now be enrolled and access the application without requiring an email address and/or phone number.
When this option is enabled, a unique registration code is provided to the participant and can be used to complete registration and access the app. This enhancement supports studies where email addresses or phone numbers are unavailable, not collected, or where a simplified participant onboarding process is preferred.
Configuration Imports & Exports
This release adds import and export features for key configuration data, enabling efficient migration, replication, or restoration across environments. These tools support validated data exchange and maintain consistent configuration management throughout the system.
Forms Module Improvements
- Calculation/Score Question Types: This release introduces Calculation and Score question types, enabling automated calculations based on participant responses. Form designers can configure scoring rules, rounding methods, compliance calculations, eligibility assessments, and other study-specific calculations directly within forms and study configurations.
- Mandated Order of Assessments: A Mandated Order of Assessments feature has been added, allowing study teams to define the sequence in which tasks and questionnaires must be completed within a Schedule of Assessments. Site users are guided through the required order, ensuring protocol compliance and a consistent assessment workflow.
- Gatekeeping: This release introduces enhanced Gatekeeping capabilities. Users can now be designated as qualified or unqualified for specific activities within a role. Only users who are explicitly qualified for an activity are permitted to submit that activity, supporting improved compliance and operational control.
- Emulator: This release introduces a Form Emulator within the Forms module, allowing users to preview and validate forms before publication. The emulator enables form designers and administrators to review form content, navigation, logic, validations, and user experience in a simulated environment prior to making the form available to participants. This helps identify and resolve issues early, reducing the need for post-publication changes and improving overall form quality.
Question Types
The participant app has been updated to include the ability to read data matrix labels containing the medication number, supporting studies that require a participant to confirm the medication they have been consuming by scanning the label.
UI Improvements
- Network Management System Admin Page
- Additional search options
- Improved visibility and usability on Study, Sites and Users summary and details pages.
- Clarified “Save” vs. “Submit” (save for later vs. mark complete)
- Updated news banner color according to design
Synchronized Comments on Participant Level
This release introduces Synchronized Participant Comments, providing a centralized approach to participant-related communication and documentation.
The existing Contact Logs have been consolidated with the default comments functionality available for Group Contact Persons and Participants. Comments entered within either area are now synchronized and visible across the participant record, improving transparency, reducing duplicate entries, and ensuring all stakeholders have access to a consistent communication history.
This enhancement streamlines participant management workflows and improves traceability of participant interactions.
Visit Information and Video Calling
This release introduces enhanced Visit Information capabilities within the participant app. Participants can now view visit details directly from the home page and access comprehensive visit information through a dedicated detail screen.
Visit information includes scheduled dates and times, visit descriptions, instructions, and other study-specific details, providing participants with a clear overview of upcoming activities and requirements.
In addition, participants can now initiate a video call directly from a visit when remote interactions are required. This streamlines virtual visits, improves participant engagement, and supports decentralized and hybrid clinical trial workflows.
Chat Functionality
Added ability to see if a participant has read a chat message.
Data Change Workflow
- Created overview of all queries allowing handling and assigning of queries and flow
- Updated role-specific permissions (who can create, answer and close a Data Change Request)
- Combined task detail view for Network Management System and Participant Management System
- Monitor data changes by state
- Raise/Open
- In Progress
- Responded or Resolved Or Withdrawn or Reopened
- Defined Default workflow:
- When a question changes, including questions dependencies, create queries for all "inactive" questions and show them.
- After query closed (accepted), hide inactive questions.
- Queries are generated by the system and can be closed via new permission
eConsent Signers
This release updates the eConsent signer configuration to provide greater flexibility for studies requiring multiple signatories.
The previous fixed signer categories (Participant, Other, and Researcher) have been replaced with configurable signer designations (Signer 1, Signer 2, Signer 3, etc.). This allows study teams to define and assign signer roles according to study-specific requirements without being constrained by predefined role labels.
This enhancement improves support for diverse consent workflows, accommodates multiple signer scenarios, and simplifies configuration across different study designs.
Bug Fixes
Fixes to PDF Export, UI Display, Form submission, and Calendar Date Picker selection availability
Maintenance
Improved Participant Dashboard performance, update notification service to match NMS and PMS look and feel, and updated task overview and widgets.
